Pricey, but they are the best. We’ll made product. Easy to install. Glad I bought this over the cheap Chinese bs. Seems easy to service as well.I tried to save a few bucks on cheaper versions over the years, they were all cheap junk that would overflow, save your money and buy the Nelson. The Nelson self filling bowl hasn’t given us any trouble in the three or so years we’ve owned it, the dogs always have fresh water. I also love the fact we can buy replacement parts if we ever need to. The bowl comes off easy enough to dump bugs out or wash it. It’s worth every dime.We used tapcon concrete screws to attach it to the house under our covered patio, then plumbed it to an outdoor faucet. I made a mistake and put it where it got sun half the day which made the water warm and the concrete underneath nasty with green mold.I relocated it in the middle of the patio where it doesn’t get any sun, no more hot water or mold. If you plumb it the way we did, make sure you put a shut off valve in the line close to the bowl, it makes dumping the bowl much easier when you can shut it off right there5 years and still works like a charm. We have had to replace the rubber water seal in the valve so the water stops filling up the bowl, but that's it!We tapped into our ice cube machine's water line and that fills the water bowl. I bought a shut off valve to turn off the water for cleaning and maintenance.Everybody always comments about how they wish they had one in their home when they see ours.3 dogs and 3 cats always have fresh water as long as we don't get too lazy and not clean it regularly.Nelson sells replacement parts on their website. We thought about drilling an overflow hole and attaching a tube and running it down to the drain in the basement but I never got around to it.Great product.Worth every penny! We have four big dogs and we had trouble keeping water in the water dish, pool, and trough. We tried this as a solution and it works great! They can't pull it off the wall and drag it around, they can't get in it and muddy up the source and they can't chew it up and leave themselves without water for the day while we are at work. I love this and highly recommend it!My husband put this in and I love that my dogs can always have access to water. The only downside is it has a slow and steady leak. I have a boot tray and towel under it to help. But other than that it’s greatI have had a Nelson Automatic dog waterer on an outside wall for around 20 years and it has never failed me or my dogs. Finally it gave up the ghost. Rather that patching it up i ordered a new one. It arrived well packaged and with simple instructions and now hangs on the same wall as my old one. It was simple to install and works wonderfully. My dogs and I love it. I would recommend it to anyone. My dog stays outside while my husband and I are at work. I was coming home to find that she was dumping her water bowl so I quickly went on the hunt to find a mountable water bowl. I found the Nelson automatic water bowl. After much consideration, reading reviews, and comparing to cheaper versions I bit the bullet and ordered. I received it quickly. My husband didn’t seem to have much trouble instilling it; took about twenty minutes. Ours was mounted on brick. It’s seems very sturdy, great quality material. Only complaint is the plastic that the hose hooks onto on the actual water bowl, but you can easy replace with metal parts. Works exactly as intended. My dog went right to it. I’m not going to have to worry about her going without water during the summer in 100+ heat. The bowl is easily removable to clean.
